Introduction to the Lezgin Culture

The Lezgin people are located in Southeastern Dagestan and Northern Azerbaijan in the Caucasus Mountains.  These people are also referred to as the Lezgians, Lezgi, and the Lezgis.  There are approximately 697,000 people who practice this culture.  About 480,000 of the Lezgin people speak the primary language, which is, Lezgi.  The primary religion of the Lezgin people is Muslim, majority of them being Sunni Muslims.  These are mountain people who primarily live off the land.
